Professor Akbar Manousi is an internationally recognized economist who has dedicated much of his career to higher education. He completed his graduate studies at the University of Waterloo and later taught for many years at the University of Ottawa and Carleton University, mentoring more than 8,000 students who have since become accomplished leaders and entrepreneurs. He also founded the Canadian Higher Education Institute, an organization devoted to advancing innovative learning and international academic collaboration.

Politics

Alongside his academic work, Professor Manousi has maintained an active role in Canadian politics. He has served as Regional Executive Director of the Liberal Party, as a candidate in both provincial and federal elections, and as President of the Green Party of Canada. Guided by a deep belief in civic engagement, environmental stewardship, and citizens’ rights, he has worked to strengthen dialogue between the Iranian–Canadian community and the broader international society.

Community

Professor Manousi views social responsibility as a vital part of his life and mission. He has been engaged in charitable and humanitarian initiatives, collaborating with NGOs and community organizations in Canada and abroad. Serving as President of the Coordinating Council of Muslims in the National Capital Region and as a member of the Canadian International Council, he continues to promote community empowerment, cooperation, and a culture of mutual understanding and solidarity.
